After moving up two spots in the NAIA Men's Division II Basketball Poll, the Valley City State University Men's Basketball team disposed of the UM-Morris Cougars 61-51.
The Vikings shot 8-20 (40%) from the three point line in the first half to lead 33-28 at the break and then used strong free throw shooting down the stretch to beat the home Cougars for their sixth win of the season.
Valley City State shot 7-8 (87.5%) from the charity stripe in the second half and 10 for 12 (83.3%) for the game.
Sekani Milligen led all scorers with 20 points, shooting five for 12 from the three point line and 5-6 from the free throw line. Chris Embden followed Milligen with ten points and was the only other Viking in double figures.
Gus Kueber controlled the boards pulling down 12 rebounds. Aaron Duske followed with eight.
With the win, Valley City State moves to 6-2 on the season and returns home for back to back games on Thursday and Friday with Presentation College and Trinity Bible College. The men's game will begin at 7:30 each night.
