The Valley City State University Softball Team has signed Courtney Kinnett, a first baseman currently attending Colby Community College (KS).
Kinnett, who played high school ball at Platte Canyon High School in Bailey, CO, will transfer in the fall of 2013 after finishing her second season this spring at Colby Community College (CCC). Kinnett hit .305 in her freshman season with an on base percentage of .387. Defensively, she is plays a strong corner position with a 95.3 fielding percentage last spring.
During the fall 2012 season, Kinnett hit .405 with a .500 on base percentage.
As strong as her playing ability it, Kinnett is just as successful in the classroom, sporting a 4.0 grade point average and being listed to the President's Honor Roll at CCC. She is also active in clubs and organizations on campus and the community including the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Club, the Circle K Club and has served as a Colby Community College Ambassador.
'Courtney is a great fit for us at Valley City State,' commented head coach Chad Slyter. 'She is skilled offensively and will bring a great presence to our team having had a number of games under her belt at the college level. Off the field, she is an outstanding student and is active in a number of clubs and organizations. I look forward to having Courtney as a part of our program for the next two seasons.'
