The Valley City State University Viking Women's Basketball team led by six points at the break but a slow second half saw the Vikings eleven game win streak come to an end with a 60-52 loss to Daemen College (NY).
The Vikings shot 43.8% in the first half including three of eight from the three point line to lead 32-26 at halftime, but Valley City State struggled from the field in the second half and was outscored by 14 points.
Shooting only nine of 31 from the floor for 29% in the last half, the Vikings could only put 20 points on the board. Daemen College also held a sizeable advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Vikings 44-29.
Valley City State was led by Brittany Lehner who posted a double-double, scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Courtney Titus followed with 10 points as the only other Viking in double figures.
The loss dropped the number 17 ranked Valley City State Vikings to 11-2 on the season and snaps their eleven game win streak.
The Vikings return to action on January 4 at 5:30 PM when they host the University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars at the W. E. Osmon Fieldhouse.
