The number 15 ranked Valley City State University Vikings fell in their first game in the Whittier College Tournament to California State-Maritime by an 85-80 score.

Valley City State shot 52.3% in the game including 57.1% (12-21) from the three point line but as impressive as the Viking offense was, the Cal State-Maritime offense was even better. The Viking opponent put four players in double figures and shot 57.4% from the floor in the game and out rebounded Valley City State 33-19.

Sekani Milligen led the Vikings with 19 points and he was followed by John Raquel, playing in his home state with 18. Patrick Rogers hit four three's off the bench to round out the double digit Viking scorers with 12.

The loss drops the Vikings to 9-4 on the season. They will finish their tournament at Whittier College on Sunday.
