Valley City State Men's Basketball team hosted Northern New Mexico College in game two of the evening's double header. After watching the women's team take care of business, it was up to the men to seal the sweep against the visiting Eagles.
The Vikings dominated the first half outperforming the Eagles in every shooting category. The first half ends with the Vikings up by 12 points. The second half of the game was another story, as the Eagles outscored the Vikings.
After an exciting first half the Vikings were not able to keep up the pace. Thanks to an up and down second half by the Vikings, the Eagles were able to get back in the game. However, late in the game the Vikings hit a few key three point shots, draining 6 of 12 from behind the arc in the second half to secure the 71-62 victory.
The Vikings had three scoring in double digits; Sekani Milligen led with 17 points, followed by Gus Kueber adding 16 points and 3 blocks, lastly John Raquel put up 14 points and had 4 takeaways. AJ McDonald was the man setting up scoring chances, he accounted for 5 of the 12 Viking assists.
The Vikings will host Johnson & Wales University Saturday January 12th, tipoff is slated for 4:00 pm.
