In the rematch the Vikings started slowly trailing 4-11 eight minutes into the game, but he Vikings tied the game at the nine minute mark in the first half. The VCSU run was aided by some sloppy Wildcat ball handling and high pressure Viking defense that led to several turnovers and easy transition buckets for the Vikes.

The Teams traded baskets for the first five minutes of the second half and the score was tied at 39 at the fifteen minute mark. The Vikings struggled to get their offense going throughout the second half and the Wildcats took advantage. The lead grew to 14 (44-59) as the Vikings could only muster three points over a five minute span midway through the second half.
The Vikings would make a run closing the score to 61-67 with 3:36 to go, and 72-74 in the closing seconds, but the hot shooting of the Wildcats (16-30, 52% from 3 point) would continue and the Wildcats would ice the game from the free throw line for a final of 72-76.
