In Jamestown at the Civic Center, Valley City State beat up on Dakota State in the second half to take the consolation game of the Dakota Tip Off Classic.

At halftime, VCSU only led 33-30 in a game that featured 2 ties and 7 lead changes.

Dakota State was a perfect 6 for 6 from the free throw line in the first 20 minutes and won the board battle 12-11.

However, in the second half, the Vikings plundered the Trojans for 15 turnovers and forced Dakota State into 33.3% field goal shooting.

The Vikings built as large as a 24 point lead at one point (69-45 with 4 minutes left).

Courtney Titus broke through the Trojan defense for 14 second half points. Titus had not scored in the first half.

Brittany Lehner led the Vikings with 17 points (and also pulled down 6 rebounds), while Katelyn Raltson added 11.

In the second half, VCSU grabbed 24 rebounds, while Dakota State had just 14. Ralston also pulled down 6 rebounds (and added 4 assists).

Sadiqah Jihad dished out 6 assists.

For Dakota State, Kylie Westover was again the team's leading scorer with 20 points. Westover led the Trojans with 6 rebounds.

Haley Stover had 3 assists to lead that statistical category.

Valley City State improves to 17-4 on the season, while Dakota State falls to 5-12.
