After dropping out of the NAIA National Basketball Poll for the first time all season, the VCSU Viking Women's Basketball team promptly responded by knocking off number 13 ranked Jamestown College by a 54-48 score in Jamestown.

Neither team found an offensive rhythm on Wednesday evening but it was Valley City State who road a consistent inside game to the road victory.

The Vikings were paced on the interior by Alyssa Hummel and Brittany Lehner who both tallied double digit scoring with 16 and 12 points respectively. Fellow post player Courtney Dixon came off the bench to score eight points.

The three post players combined to shoot 16-26 from the floor and four for five from the free throw line.

Defensively, Valley City State handcuffed the home team Jimmies in the second half. Trailing by five at the break, the Vikings limited Jamestown College to five of 33 shooting in the second half (15.2%) and just one of 14 from the three point line for 7.1%. For the game the Jimmies shot just 23.9% and 23.1% from beyond the arc.

Courtney Titus grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Vikings on the boards while Ashli Lee came off the bench and grabbed eight caroms in the Viking victory.

Valley City State moves to within one victory of another twenty win season at 19-6. The Vikings will shoot for second 20 win season in three seasons on Saturday when they host South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Game time is set for 2:00 PM at the W. E. Osmon Fieldhouse.
