The Valley City State University Men's Basketball team used a second half surge to force overtime but came up one point short in the extra stanza and was defeated by Jamestown College 66-65.

The Vikings, who struggled offensively all evening, put together a 20-6 run to finish the game and send the game to overtime at Jamestown College. Valley City State shot only 4-26 (15.4%) from the three point line in the game but kept themselves close and in the game with a 15-17 (88.2%) night from the free throw line.

Trailing by one, Jamestown College's Mark Hoge, sank two free throws with nine seconds left in overtime to give the Jimmies a one point and final lead.

Valley City State took the ball the length of the court and Sekani Milligen was stripped of the ball as he made a move in the lane for a game winning try and the Jimmies held on to pull off the upset of the #19 ranked Vikings.

The two teams have played a total of three times this season with the Jimmies winning two of those games as each team has one every game played on their respective home court.

Three Viking tallied double digits in the scoring column. Sekani Milligen led VCSU with 17 point scored. Milligen was followed by Gus Kueber and Aaron Duske who scored 16 and 15 points each.

The loss drops the Vikings to 19-6 on the season. They will take another shot at their 20th victory of the season on Saturday when they host South Dakota School of Mines and Technology at 4:00 PM at the W. E. Osmon Fieldhouse.
