Vikings at a Glance: Valley City State University won their 20th game of the season with a 61-55 victory over NCAA Division II South Dakota School of Mines and Technology last Saturday.
The win over the Hard Rockers was the Vikings fifth in their last six games and 11th in their last 13.
Senior shooting guard Sekani Milligen scored his 1000th career point in a Viking uniform in the first half versus South Dakota Mines.
Valley City State has secured a spot in the six team Association for Independent Institutions Men's Conference Basketball Tournament to be played in Jamestown on February 22-24. Also making the tournament is: Rochester (18-3), Dakota State (18-8), Ashford (17-10), Jamestown College (12-16) and Northern New Mexico (11-16). The top two teams from the A.I.I. Tournament receive an automatic bid to the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament.
Seeding for the A.I.I. Conference Tournament will be announced on Sunday evening.
The Opponent: Mayville State University comes to the W. E. Osmon Fieldhouse with an 8-17 record under first year head coach Dan DeWitt.
The Comets are coming off of two consecutive wins this past weekend versus Oglala Lakota College in which they scored 115 points on the first night and followed it up with 97 the next.
The Vikings have defeated Mayville State University in both games they have played this season.
