Vikings at a Glance: Valley City State University's Women's Basketball Team secured their second 20 win season in three years with a 64-58 come from behind victory on Saturday over NCAA Division II South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. It was the second time this season that VCSU has beaten the former DAC opponent.
The Vikings are one of three Association for Independent Institution teams that have 20 wins on the season along with Mayville State University (20-2) and Jamestown College (22-5). All three teams will most certainly compete in the A.I.I. Conference Tournament on February 20-22 in Jamestown. The Vikings will look to lock up their third straight National Tournament appearance as the winner and runner up of the A.I.I. Tournament will receive automatic bids to the NAIA Women's National Tournament.
The Vikings will look to avenge two earlier season losses to Mayville State University. The Comets defeated the Vikings at the Dakota Tip-Off Tournament by a six point margin before defeating VCSU on their home floor by 11 points.
The Opponent: Mayville State University is 20-2 and enjoying one of their best seasons in recent years. The Comets have won four games in a row since they were handed a defeat in the Dakota Tip-Off Tournament in the championship by Jamestown College. That loss snapped a ten game win streak for the Comets.
