In a game where neither team could find an offensive rhythm, it was a late Mayville State University three point shot that stunned and upset the #20 ranked Vikings 56-55.

Mayville State's Steve Ivory Jr, hit his only three point attempt of the game with 2.2 seconds remaining in the game to give the Comets the road upset victory. Ivory finished the game with 12 points but it was his late three that pushed Mayville State to the win.

Neither team shot the ball well, but the Comets pulled through for 57.1% on the second half to the Vikings 43.5%. The difference may well have been at the charity stripe.

The Vikings, who led the entire second half until Ivory's three, had many chances to put the game away at the free throw line but shot only 10-19 (52.6%) in the second half and 11-24 (45.8%) for the game.

Leading Viking scorer Sekani Milligen was hampered with foul trouble and held in check by the Mayville State defense, scoring a season low two points.

Dillan Ostrom scored the first six points of the second half for Valley City State on his way to a team high 14 points. Ostrom was a perfect six for six from the floor.

The loss drops Valley City State to 20-7 on the season. The Vikings will look to win their last regular season game of the 2012-13 season when they host Dakota State on Saturday at the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse. Tipoff is slated for 4:00 PM.
