Valley City State University senior guard Sekani Milligen was named to the NAIA All American Second Team for the 2012-2013 men's basketball season.
Milligen, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, averaged just over 18 points per game on the season and ranked third in the NAIA in 3-Point Field Goals Made per Game with 3.586, seventh in Total 3-Point Field Goals Made with 104 and his 18.3 points per game ranked him 27th in the nation in scoring average.
An Honorable Mention All American in the 2011-2012 season, Milligen led this season's Viking Men's Basketball squad to their first every NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament and their first appearance at a national tournament since 1987.
Milligen was named the Association of Independent Institutions Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year and was also listed on the A.I.I. All-Conference First Team.
In just two seasons with the Vikings, Milligen scored over 1,000 points in a VCSU uniform, netting the milestone mark on a free throw on February 9 versus NCAA Division II South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
With the Second Team All American selection, Milligen becomes the highest selected Viking to the All American list. Former Vikings Gavin Anderson (1972) and Steve Bartow (1987) were both Third Team selections while Jim Belquist (1965), Henry Holte (1966), Dwayne Smith (1997) and Orlando Anderson (2010) were all named Honorable Mention All Americans.
