The Vikings (2-0) won the Dakota Athletic Conference opener even though Dakota State had the ball for more than half the game. Fabian threw for 220 yards and rushed for 60 yards.

The Defense also stood strong limiting the Trojans passing game while posting the shutout.

Fabian accounted for five touchdowns as the Junior found Steve Battle three times on scores of 2, 35, and 25 yards out. He also rushed for touchdowns from 44 and nine yards out. Meanwhile, Battle caught 10 passes for 115 yards to go along with his three scores. He also opened the game with a 98 yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Jesse Zwegzig rushed for 118 yards for Dakota State (0-1), which had nearly 40 minutes in possession time.
