The Valley City State University Vikings first-inning burst enough to top Presentation College, 13-0
A seven-run explosion in the first inning lifted the Valley City State University Vikings to a 13-0 win in seven innings over Presentation College.
Brenden Shearer racked up five RBIs on four hits for the VCSU. He tripled in the first inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the second and seventh innings.
Chad Leskiw got the win in relief for the Vikings. Leskiw pitched two innings and allowed no runs. The Viking pitching staff allowed only four hits in the seven inning shutout. Combining in the effort were Ronnie Blagg, Leskiw, Anthony Myer, and Joey Duttenhefer.
The Valley City State University Vikings hammered Presentation College pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 16 hits, 10 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
The VCSU got one-run boosts in each of the second, fifth and seventh. In the second, the Vikings scored on an RBI single by Shearer, scoring Preston Jensen.
Brady Anderson hit his second home run of the season.
The Vikings piled on three more runs in the top of the sixth. Daniel Buehner doubled, bringing home Hayden Johnson to start the inning. That was followed up by Shearer's double, plating Buehner.

The Valley City State University Vikings beat Presentation College 6-5 in seven innings on Thursday at Metrodome behind Colin Waldner, who went 2-3.
He singled in the first inning and tripled in the third inning.
Corey Pudas had an impressive outing against Presentation College's lineup. Pudas held Presentation College hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one. Five viking pitchers combined to allow only three hits in the game. Colin Waldner also recorded the save for the Vikings.
