Valley City State University (VCSU) Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Jeff Kaminsky, announces that Mac Kroeplin of Grand Forks, North Dakota has signed a Letter of Intent to attend VCSU and join the Viking Basketball program for the 2013-2014 season.
Kroeplin averaged 19.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists for the Grand Forks Red River Roughriders this past season. The Roughriders finished fifth in the Class A State Tournament, but spent most of the season as the #1 ranked Class A team in North Dakota, after having won the North Dakota State Class A Basketball Tournament the season before. Mac also sank 52 3-pointers with 45.6 percent efficiency, which was 2nd best among Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) 3-point shooters. Mac was rewarded for his outstanding efforts by being named a unanimous selection to the All-EDC team, as well as being named First-Team All-State. He was also named a finalist for the prestigious North Dakota Mr. Basketball award.
Jason Gregory, Mac’s Head Coach at Red River High School comments, “Mac is a winner and competitor at its finest. He displays all of the characteristics of a great all around basketball player.”
Coach Kaminsky comments on Kroeplin, “Mac will be a great addition to our program on and off the court. His versatility on the perimeter and his strength will give him the opportunity to have an immediate impact. Mac had an outstanding high school career and we look forward to his transition to the college game as a member of Viking Basketball. ”
