Jeff Kaminsky, Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Valley City State University (VCSU), has announced that Skylar Shockman of LaMoure, North Dakota has signed a Letter of Intent to attend VCSU and join the Viking basketball program for the 2013-2014 season.

Shockman is a 2012 graduate of LaMoure High School and currently attends Minnesota State University Moorhead. During the 2012 season at LaMoure High School, Skylar averaged 8 points and 5 rebounds per game, on a team that started the year 22-0 before falling to eventual Region 3 Champion, Linton, in the region semifinal game. Skylar put together perhaps his best string of games during the 2012 Stutsman County Tournament, which ended with the Loboes winning the tournament title and Skylar being named to the Stutsman County All-Tournament team.

Darren Thielges, Skylar’s Head Coach at LaMoure High School comments, “Skylar possesses great athleticism and a passion for the game. His skill set will allow him to contribute in a variety of ways for the Vikings.”

Coach Kaminsky adds, “Skylar has a unique combination of size, strength, and athleticism that will make him a valuable addition to our frontcourt. He also has a passion for the game and the weight room which will result in continued improvement. Both on and off the court, Skylar will be a great addition to Viking Basketball.”
