The Valley City State volleyball team posted a 2-2 record this weekend during the Claws Out Challenge at Peru State (Neb.).

VCSU opened the tournament with a three-game sweep over College of Saint Mary, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23. That avenged a five-game loss to Saint Mary earlier this season.

Mount Marty College then knocked off VCSU in five sets on Friday night as the Vikings fell 21-25, 25-23, 24-26, 26-24, 9-15.

Valley City also went 1-1 on Saturday, losing to Peru State in four, but ending the tournament with a dominating sweep of AIB, 25-17, 25-11, 25-15.

Viking middle Aurissa Martens was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Vikings are now 6-10 overall and 0-1 in the North Star Athletic Association. VCSU looks for its first North Star win Wednesday night, Sept. 18, when they host Dakota State at 7 p.m.
