The Valley City State football team is just outside the Top 25 in the first regular season NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll released on Monday.

VCSU is rated No. 26 after receiving 17 poll points. The Vikings are 2-1 to start the season, with wins over Dakota State and Jamestown College, and a loss to No. 1 Morningside College. VCSU was also receiving votes in the preseason poll.

Morningside remains No. 1 in the first regular season poll after posting a 2-0 record. Saint Francis (Ind.) is No. 2, followed by Cumberlands (Ky.), Carroll (Mont.) and Saint Xavier (Ill.) to round out the Top 5.

Valley City State is in action again Saturday, Sept. 21, when they host Trinity Bible College at 6 p.m.
