MADISON, S.D. – Emily Larson of Jamestown (N.D.) was named the first North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) women’s golfer of the week, announced Monday. Michael Strain of Jamestown (N.D.) and Shane Ost of Valley City State (N.D.) shared the NSAA Men’s Golfer of the Week honor.

Co-Men’s Golfer of the Week:
Shane Ost – Valley City State (N.D.) – Junior – Valley City, N.D. – Ost earned his weekly honor for the second consecutive week. He recorded two top-5 finishes last week, taking third at the Lake Region State College Invitational by carding 71 on the first day and 77 on the second day (148 total). Ost placed fourth in the University of Jamestown Open last weekend. He scored 73 (1-over) on the second day of the invitational, which was the second-best round at the tournament.

Michael Strain – Jamestown (N.D.) – Sophomore – Motley, Minn. – Strain and his teammates had to overcome the rainy conditions to win the Jimmies’ golf home meet last weekend. Strain claimed the title by carding 74 on the first day and 75 on the second day for a total of 149.

NSAA Women’s Golfer of the Week Emily Larson – Jamestown (N.D.) – Freshman – Anoka, Minn. – Larson survived the rainy conditions at the Jamestown Invitational last weekend as she placed second. Her 170 total was two strokes back behind the leader from Bismarck State (N.D.) College. Larson finished the second day score of 82, six strokes better than the first day score (88). NSAA
