The Valley City State men's golf team added another second-place finish to its resume, putting together a pair of solid rounds for a 610 team score during the VCSU Invitational on Sunday and Monday at CrossRoads Golf Course in Carrington.

Individually, the Vikings were led by Ben Sorenson, who carded an 8-over 152 to finish in sixth place. Jake Richels (154) and Casey Colemer (154) both earned Top 10 finishes by tying for ninth.

On the women's side, Valley City had just one golfer but she more than held her own. Sophomore Haley Christofferson fired a two-day total of 185, tying for fourth place at the tournament.

The Viking men scored a 297 during Sunday's opening round. It was the lowest round total for VCSU since the golf program was reinstated in 2009. Both Sorenson and Darren Young shot rounds of 73 on Sunday to lead the charge.

Young had to sit out Sunday's round due to sickness though, leaving the Vikings shorthanded. They followed Day 1 with a solid round of 313 on Day 2.

Shane Ost added a 13th place finish for the Vikings. VCSU's second team took sixth place in the seven-team field.
