MADISON, S.D. – Richard Langdeaux of Valley City State (N.D.) and Aleona Reyes of Jamestown (N.D.) were selected to the second edition of the North Star Athletic Association Cross Country weekly honors, announced Tuesday. Both runners were the top NSAA runners in the competitive Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota, on Sept. 28.
NSAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Richard Langdeaux – Valley City State (N.D.) – Junior – Bakersfield, Calif. – Langdeaux was the top North Star Athletic Association runner in the competitive Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 28. The Vikings were also the top NSAA team in the meet, tallying 1020 points for 35th place. Langdeaux completed the 8K race course with a time of 27 minutes and 35 seconds to finish 139th in the 458-runner field.
NSAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Aleona Reyes – Jamestown (N.D.) – Senior – Belen, New Mexico – Reyes earned her weekly honor for the second straight time. She ran her best Roy Griak time in her career with a time of 23 minutes and 8 seconds. As a result, Reyes placed 20th in the 5K race course with 356 runners in the field. It was her second time in her career that Reyes recorded a 'Top 20' place finish in the race. She set the new Jimmie career cross country scoring record in the race and led the Jimmies to a 23rd place finish in the meet with 652 points (out of 34 teams).
The NSAA members will return back to action next weekend. Jamestown and Valley City State will compete in the Jimmie Invitational in Jamestown, N.D. on Friday, Oct. 11.
Dakota State (S.D.) heads to McCook Lake, S.D. on Saturday, Oct. 12 as they compete in the Briar Cliff (Iowa) Invitational.
