The Valley City State men's cross country team is ranked No. 1 this week in the MCAC/North Star conference rankings. Each week the NAIA lists the weekly national and conference rankings. This is the first time VCSU has been ranked No. 1 since the Viking cross country program was reinstated in 2010.

The Conference Championship race (MCAC and North Star combine for it) will be in Lawrence, Kan., on Nov. 9 with the top team advancing to the National Championships.

“This is a great honor for the men’s team to be ranked first within the conference with the opportunity to advance to Nationals on the line," said VCSU head coach Ken Frenette. "This is definitely something that the men’s team has been striving for since the return of the program in 2010. The guys have been working really hard for the past six weeks and their willingness to do the necessary work has steadily improved throughout the season.”
