The Valley City State men's basketball team knocked off Minnesota-Crookston 65-47 Tuesday night during an exhibition game in Crookston.

The Viking women dropped their exhibition game against Crookston, 63-48. Crookston is an NCAA Division II school.

For the Viking men, the win is their first of the year but will not count on their record because it was an exhibition contest. Senior Aaron Duske scored 16 points to lead four Vikings in double figures.

Jeff Romeus scored 13 points, including four 3-pointers, and Jeremy Ware and AJ McDonald each scored 11 points.

Valley City shot 60 percent in the first half en route to a 41-26 halftime lead. As a team VCSU made 9 of 18 3-point attempts and 20 of 25 free throws.

In the women's game, Valley City struggled shooting the ball. VCSU shot just 25 percent in the first half and 31 percent in the game. Crookston led 30-19 at halftime.

Kelsey Hunter scored 13 points and Brittany Lehner added 12 in the loss.

Up next: VCSU's men (0-3) take on No. 1-ranked Cardinal Stritch on Friday during a two-day tournament at Viterbo University. The Viking women (1-3) host William Penn at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
