The Valley City State football team is in "The Golden State" this weekend to wrap up the 2013 season.
The Vikings will take on Menlo College in Atherton, Calif., on Saturday at 2 p.m. CST. It is the final regular season game for VCSU, which sports a 5-4 record.
Valley City State is coming off a dominating 37-12 home victory over Mayville State last Saturday. The win earned VCSU a share of the inaugural North Star Athletic Association conference title after both the Vikings and Jamestown finished with a 3-1 conference record.
Menlo College enters Saturday's game with a 4-5 record. The Oaks are coming off a 35-17 win over Presentation College last week - a team VCSU beat 31-17 earlier this season.
Valley City State senior running back Derek Elliott will have one final game to continue his onslaught of VCSU records. Elliott enters his final game needing 104 yards to break the career rushing record of 3,332 yards held by John Overbey. It's certainly within reach as Elliott is averaging 179 yards per game and has surpassed 100 yards in all nine games this season.
Saturday's game is the first meeting in school history between the two football teams.
A broadcast feed of Saturday's game is unavailable to be broadcast locally due to contract rights. Viewing options include a pay-per-view video broadcast for $7.95 by clicking the link at the top of the page. Live stats will be available for free through Dakstats.
