The VCSU Presidential Search Committee of the North Dakota University System has scheduled interviews via distance-learning technology with nine candidates for the VCSU presidency on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014.

Each interview will last 45 minutes with a 10-minute break before the next interview begins.

Below is a list of the nine candidates selected for the distance interviews. Credentials for each are available in PDF format by clicking on the name of the candidate.
  • Lawrence V. Gould, Ph.D., provost/chief academic officer, Fort Hays State University (1998–2013), Hays, Kansas
  • Margaret E. Madden, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs and tenured professor of psychology, State University of New York at Potsdam, New York
  • Tisa A. Mason, Ed.D., vice president for student affairs, Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas
  • John W. Nicklow, Ph.D., provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois
  • Greg Summers, Ph.D., provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, Stevens Point, Wisconsin
  • Daniel Shipp, Ed.D., chief student affairs officer/dean of students and associate vice chancellor, University of Nebraska at Omaha, Omaha, Nebraska
  • Richard G. Shrubb, Ph.D., president, Minnesota West Community and Technical College, Worthington, Minnesota
  • Debra Thatcher, Ph.D., acting president, State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill, Cobleskill, New York
  • Karl E. Ulrich, Ph.D., provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, The University of Montana Western, Dillon, Montana
Upon completion of these nine distance interviews, the search committee intends to schedule on-campus interviews with semifinalist candidates over Monday–Wednesday, Oct. 13–15, 2014.

Following the on-campus interviews, the search committee will recommend a slate of finalist candidates to the State Board of Higher Education, which will conduct final interviews on the VCSU campus on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, with the selection of the next VCSU president announced thereafter.
