If we had to choose one one word to describe Jordan Bushaw, a VCSU senior from Bismarck in the software engineering program, it would have to be “driven.”

Jordan’s hard work and determination has provided a way for her to graduate in three years from the VCSU software engineering program. “It wasn’t the original plan, but it works to finish in three years,” she said. “I just combined the years together.”

While many of us would stress about the rigorous class schedule taken by Jordan, she isn’t fazed: “I love the challenge. In my degree, I’m challenged on a daily basis.” Through her hard work, she received an internship in New York City last summer, where she worked for NBC in media technology. Already this fall, NBC offered her a job! Excited for the opportunity, she will be moving to New York City after graduation in May!

On campus, Jordan also helps in the recruitment and running of the CSSE Department, working as a tutor, a Learning to Live (L2L) mentor for the freshman CSSE/software engineering majors, and also a teacher’s assistant for CIS classes. “I love being a TA! I get to know all the freshmen,” she says.

Knowing the freshman class helps Jordan with her other responsibility on campus. Last semester she was voted student body president. She leads Student Senate, keeps the VCSU student body informed about new changes around campus, and helps grow Viking Pride among the student body.

When she has free time, Jordan enjoys reading, running, hiking, Netflix, and playing with her puppy Henley. They are a fun duo seen walking around campus in the afternoon.

While she’s excited for the future, Jordan is also sad to leave. “I’m gonna miss VCSU. It’s feels like home here.” We at VCSU will miss Jordan, but we’re excited to hear of her future adventures!
