The OpenDyslexic Chrome Extension changes the font of any page you visit within Chrome to a dyslexia-friendly one. The OpenDyslexic font is designed to prevent letters from flipping while reading by making the bottoms of the letters more bold-weighted.

The following guidelines describe the main steps to properly download and use this feature.

Download the Extension

  1. Open Chrome. 
  2. Click on “Apps” in the upper left-hand-corner to go to the Chrome Web Store. Alternatively, google “Chrome Web Store” and click on the first link that pops up.
  3. Search “Open Dyslexic” in the left-hand search bar. 
  4. Click “Add to Chrome” next to the OpenDyslexic extension. 
  5. To view details on your extension, click the three vertical dots to the right of the URL.
    1. Click “More Tools.”
    2. Click “Extensions.” 

Use the Extension

  1. Open Chrome and go to the website you want to read.
  2. To the right of the URL, click the weighted symbol.
  3. Under “Options,” click the button to “On.” The webpage font will automatically change.
  4. To reverse the font back to normal, click the button to “Off.”
