Valley City State University offers a wide variety of music courses in the online format, including introductory and advanced courses. These courses can be taken for enjoyment as a non-degree seeking student, for transfer to other institutions, or can count towards an online certificate or degree in Music from VCSU.
Worried about feeling isolated as an online student? Don't worry, our interactive online courses are offered concurrently with the face-to-face classes on campus, so you can be "present" in class during the actual class time. Students, both on-campus and online, work together through the class. Online office hours allow one-to-one time for students to meet with the instructor. However, if your schedule doesn't allow you to log on at the course time, all online courses are recorded and archived through Blackboard Collaborate or other programs. This provides access to students who cannot “attend” class sessions at the scheduled time.
These courses are different than Independent Study classes. VCSU online coursework is not self-paced; rather it is planned and organized around a fifteen-week semester schedule or an abbreviated summer term. Students are expected to fulfill class requirements on the timeline set forth in the syllabus for each course.
