What is Financial Aid?

Financial Aid is any type of monetary assistance received by a student for a college education. This assistance can be in the form of scholarships, grants, work, tuition waivers, loans, etc.

It is strongly recommended that students and parents complete federal taxes for the year 2008 as soon after January 1, 2009 as possible.

The institutional government code for Valley City State University is: 003008

In order to apply for federal programs, all students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This can be done by paper application (available from high school counselors or this office upon request) or on the internet.

Many sites on the Internet are related to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), but only one-FAFSA on the Web-is the official site. The following banners are direct links to these sites.

Those students and parents that have opted to file for an extension on tax returns should be prepared to pay required fees/expenses at the beginning of the semester (since no aid will be paid on projected taxes). Failure to submit requested documentation of tax returns or an Institutional Verification Form is not justifiable cause for waiving a late fee payment.
