The Federal Work Study Program provides part-time jobs for students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education and personal expenses. Students eligible for Federal Work Study through their financial aid award are given the opportunity to work in various position on the VCSU campus.
How do I become eligible for Federal Work Study?
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually at www.fafsa.ed.gov
If you qualify, accept the Federal Work Study award on your Financial Aid Award Letter or Campus Connection.
Complete and submit the Federal Work Study Questionnaire below. Career Services will place you in a vacancy based on the information/interests provided.
Types of employment opportunities include (but not limited to): office workers, maintenance workers, library assistants, athletics, food service, reading tutors.
Student employees are paid bimonthly on the 15th and the last business day of each month.
The award amount is the maximum the student will be able to earn during the academic year.
New student hires will need to provide required documentation to the VCSU Payroll Office prior to beginning employment.
Student who are not initially awarded Federal Work Study may inquire about their eligibility at the Financial Aid Office.
If students do not qualify for Federal Work Study, VCSU also offers Student Assistance positions. These positions are available to any student regarding of their financial aid need. For more information on those positions please contact the Career Services Office/website.
