The 20th annual VCSU Scholarship Auction, scheduled for Friday, April 25, at the Valley City Eagles Club, is taking on a Mardi Gras theme this year. As you enter the Valley City Eagles, it will feel as if you are in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, including the jazz music, balconies and beads! All attendees are encouraged to come dressed in keeping with the theme. We will be awarding prizes for most creative individual, couple and group.
The social hour and the silent auction begin at 5:00 pm. During this time folks are encouraged to come and check out the variety of gift baskets available to be bid on along with chances to win.
“The scholarship auction is the single biggest event in terms of generating scholarship dollars that the VCSU Foundation office works on each year,” said Kim Hesch, assistant director of advancement at VCSU. Scholarships are vital to VCSU’s success, and all proceeds from the auction go directly to V-500 and Century Club scholarships. The Scholarship Auction is a collaborative effort of the VCSU Booster Board and V-500 Board. All proceeds from the event are split 50/50.
Tickets to the auction are $35 each, which includes admission, two beverage tickets and a full buffet dinner.
This year we are serving Cajun-rubbed roast beef and coconut shrimp, rosemary baby red potatoes, Louisiana green beans, chicken/sausage jambalaya, dirty rice, red beans and dinner rolls. The buffet dinner is served from 6:00–7:30 pm.
The live auction will kick off at 7:00 pm. This is your chance to bid on some great deals while contributing to a great cause. All proceeds from the auction go directly to scholarships. Some of the items up for bid include: six-course authentic Italian dinner for four, golf packages, Twins tickets, Sioux hockey tickets, Minnesota Viking tickets, tools, car washes, an iPad Air, quilts and more. “We had another record enrollment this spring. Scholarships are important for our continued success in building a strong enrollment,” said Hesch. “Our goal is $80,000 this year. It’s a bit of a stretch from past years, but we are confident that with the support of our community we will be able to reach the goal.”
