Valley City, ND Viking men’s basketball coach Adam DeHaan has announced that Milbank (SD) senior Jackson Sussex has signed a DAC-10 Letter of Intent to play basketball at Valley City State University.
Sussex had a highly successful career for the Bulldogs. During his three years of varsity basketball, Milbank ran the North East Conference table going 27-0. This year the Bulldogs had a 20-4 overall record and earned 5th place at the South Dakota Class A tournament.
The 6-0 point guard averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists per game this past season. Sussex converted 39.5% of his 3 point attempts and 51.8% overall. For these efforts he was selected 1st team North East Conference and was a Class A 3rd team All-State selection.
In addition to his basketball ability, Sussex was an all-conference and all-state football player from his receiver position. He will graduate from Milbank High School this spring as a Regents Scholar.
Sussex joins three other freshmen in the Viking recruiting class. Previously, Brady Ernst (Dickinson Trinity, ND), Jonathan Lindahl (Cando, ND), and Justin Thornton (Valley City, ND) had signed with the Vikings. Transfers to Valley City State include Tyrone Terry (NDSU), Matt Klabo (MSU-Bottineau), and Nick Lee (MSU-Bottineau).
Valley City State University finished 13-16 this past season and earned a 5th place finish (9-9) in the Dakota Athletic Conference. VCSU is an NAIA member institution.
