In the finale of VCSU's Texas trip Viterbo defeated the Vike's 9-4. VCSU led 4-0 into the fifth when starter Jason Beilke ran into some trouble allowing three runs in the inning. Beilke started the sixth but tired early in the inning. He had thrown a shutout inning in relief the night before, and was pulled after a walk to the first batter of the inning and a 3-0 count to the second. Viterbo would score three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh and the Viking offense could not answer.
The Vikings threatened to blow the game open early on getting runners on base in five of the first six innings but could not get the big hit. Reid Arnold, Tanner Bombenger, Braden Raskob-smith, and Chris Olson each had a double in the game.
VCSU moves to Crete, NE with four games scheduled vs. Doane College for Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's games slated to start at 1 PM look to be in doubt due to weather issues and Sunday's games scheduled for noon look probable as of Friday afternoon.
