Game one starter Nick Spiess earned the win after five innings of work in which he allowed four runs by scattering nine hits and striking out two. A strong relief appearance from Shaun Cameron and Nate Lutkemeier nailed down the Viking victory. Cameron and Lutkemeier combined on four innings of three hit ball while allowing only one run.
The VCSU offense kept the pressure on the Jimmies all game by scoring in seven of the nine innings played. Tony Forster led the Viking attack with three hits. Forster, Matt Huonder, and Bryce Ingram each doubled, while Ingram and Reid Arnold homered for the Vikings.
Game two started out looking like a continuation of the first game when VCSU scored six runs in the first three innings including four in the top of the third to take a 6-2 lead. The Vikes held the lead until Jamestown College opened up the game with five runs in the 5th and eight in the 6th. Alex Kreis earned the win and Shaun Cameron took the loss.
The Vikings will take on Dickinson State in two conference double headers this Saturday and Sunday starting at 1 PM both days.
