VCSU squared off with Texas Brownsville in the first game of the day and played very well despite the extra innings loss. Dan Maurer pitched 5.2 strong innings allowing only 3 hits and striking out four. The Vikings banged out 16 hits during the contest that were highlighted by a go ahead three run homerun by Matt Borgford in the top of the seventh. UTB scored 2 in the bottom of the seventh and squeezed across the winning run in the bottom of the 9th to take the 6-5 victory. Other game notes: Freshman Colin Waldner was 4-4 at the plate.

In the second game the Vikings faced Fisher College from Boston, MA. Fisher jumped out to an early 3 run lead in the first inning and never looked back winning the game 11-4. The Vikings did manage 6 hits and 8 walks offensively, but it was not enough. Josh Evans led the way for the Vikings offensively going 2-3 at the plate. The Vikings are currently 2-2 on the season; they play a double header against Fisher College on Monday.
