Evans Has Record Setting Season
Josh Evans a Sophomore from Hayfield, MN Led the Vikings In most offensive categories this season including Average, runs, hits, home runs, and stolen bases. Evans hit at a .409 clip and slugged .642. He led the team with 43 runs, 9 home runs, and 15 stolen bases.
Along the way Evans broke two long standing VCSU baseball records. The single season hits record and the single season RBI marks. The single season hits record was previously set in 1988 by Scott Yates when he tallied 64 base hits. The single season RBI mark of 52 had stood for 30 years and was set in 1980 by MLB draftee Scott Radloff. Evans finished the season with 72 base hits and 56 RBI in 47 games. He finished the season ranked 28th in the nation in hits per game. Evans also helped the Vikings set two new single season team records as well. The new marks were for hits and doubles. The 2010 Vikings tallied 463 hits and bested the old mark of 407 set in 1988. The Vikes racked up 82 doubles eclipsing the old mark of 78 also set in 1988.
