Vikings Pound Out Hits in Win

Valley City--The Viking baseball team pounded out 18 hits in a 9-6 win over Concordia, WI yesterday in Mesa, AZ.

Josh Evans (Jr., Hayfield, MN) had the highlight day, finishing 4-5 with a triple, three runs and two driven in.

The Vikings took control of the game in the third with five runs. The first six men to the plate reached base, with Matt Borgford (Sr., Pinawa, MB) and Kyle Skinner (Jr., Seattle, WA) combining for back-to-back RBI doubles.

Joey Duttenhefer picked up the win, allowing just one earned run, three overall, on six hits through 5.2 innings of work. Colin Waldner (So., Altona, MB) worked the final two innings for a save.

The Vikings are now 5-6, and face Marian College, WI, in Chandler, AZ today.
