Valley City.Viking men’s basketball coach Adam DeHaan announced today that Dawson Community College players Mario Lewis and Marcus Oatis have signed letters of intent.

Lewis, a 6-3 guard, averaged 10 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per contest for the Bucs. Lewis was the catalyst on a high-powered Dawson team that garnered three MonDak all-conference selections.

Marcus Oatis is reunited with his brother Jon, a VCSU starting post and former Dawson Community College stand-out. Marcus is a 6-4 post with a defensive presence. Oatis shot 52% from the field this year, averaging 3.5ppg. He also gathered 5.6 rebounds per contest.

DeHaan is pleased with the pair’s decision. "Mario is a great athlete who can really push the envelope. We look for him to add excitement to the games. Marcus will be counted on to be a steady presence in the post rotation. These two guys make us better.

Valley City State University finished 10-19 a year ago. VCSU is a member of the Dakota Athletic Conference and is an NAIA member institution.
