Game 1: Loss 1-6 vs Jamestown College
Paul Roers got the win for Jamestown College. He allowed one run over seven innings. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered one hit.
Jamestown College didn't relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the second inning when it scored on two singles.
The second inning saw the Valley City State University Vikings score their only run on the day on a groundout by Thomas Houdek.
Jamestown College added three more runs in the top of the sixth. A error scored Nico Moreno for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Nathan Christiuk's single, scoring Spencer Flaten.
Game 2: Win 9-3 vs University of Winnipeg
The Vikings beat U of Winnipeg 9-3 in seven innings on Saturday at Dickinson after a seven-run explosion in the seventh inning.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the seventh, with five lead changes.
The VCSU finally managed to grab the lead after a strong seventh inning. A sacrifice fly by Colin Waldner scored Mike Gershman and gave the Valley City the lead for good.
Waldner racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Vikings.
Bryce Venaas got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Venaas struck out 12, walked two and gave up five hits.
The Vikings jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the third. Preston Jensen singled to start things off before Waldner tripled, bringing home Jensen. VCSU then tacked on more runs when Waldner scored on an RBI single by Scott Stephenson.
Game 3: Win 3-0 vs Dickinson State University
Valley City State University beat Dickinson State University 3-0 in seven innings on Saturday at Dickinson behind Preston Jensen, who went 2-4.
He singled in the first inning and tripled in the third inning.
VCSUs' Derek Zitzow kept Dickinson State off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on five hits while striking out seven.
The Vikings never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring one run on an RBI single by Scott Stephenson.
The Valley City State University Vikings got one-run rallies in the third inning and the sixth. In the third, the Vikings scored on an RBI single by Colin Waldner, bringing home Jensen.
