Hot bats not enough, the Valley City State University Vikings succumb to Dakota State University, 14-13

Eighteen hits weren't enough for the Valley City State University Vikings as it lost a shootout, 14-13 in 12 innings, to Dakota State University on Wednesday at Jamestown, ND.

Preston Jensen had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first inning, tripled in the fifth inning, and singled in the fifth and eighth innings.

Brady Anderson hit a three run Homerun for VCSU to cap their 8 run fifth inning.

Joey Duttenhefer was strong in relief for the Vikings keeping the Trojan bats quiet until a solo homerun in the top of the 12th.

Seth Spears got the win for Dakota State University. He pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings. Spears struck out two, walked one and gave up two hits.

Kyle Holland, Danny Flahie, Andy Lee and Ryan Bourcier helped lead Dakota State University. They combined for 13 hits and seven RBIs.
