Bryce Venaas allowed just one run and four hits as he led the Viking baseball team past Presentation College on Sunday in Mayville.

Venaas started one the mound and went seven strong innings for VCSU in the 4-3 win against Presentation College. It salvaged a split for VCSU, which had lost 9-1 to Mayville State earlier in the day. The Vikings are now 3-3 this season.

Anthony Necochea led the offense with three hits, two runs and a RBI in the win against Presentation. Thomas Houdek added two hits and a RBI. Venaas struck out six in his seven innings of work.

Necochea and Houdek each had two hits in the loss to Mayville. The Comets scored single runs in the first and second innings before breaking the game open with four runs in the third. Chris Holden took the loss on the mound.

Up next: VCSU (3-3) will play host to Presentation and Mayville on Sunday, Oct. 6 for the final weekend of games this fall. The Vikings take on Mayville State at noon and Presentation at 6 p.m. Sunday at Charlie Brown Field in Valley City.
