Briar Cliff defeated Valley City State 3-0 Friday night during a non-conference volleyball match in Valley City.

The Chargers won the match by scores of 25-22, 25-9 and 25-18.

Valley City State drops to 10-16 overall. Briar Cliff improves to 12-7.

The Vikings and Chargers battled to the end in game one, but Briar Cliff pulled away in the final points for the 25-22 victory. It was all Chargers in game two as they jumped ahead early and dominated in the 25-9 win. Game three was neck-and-neck to star before the Chargers pulled away for the 25-18 win.

Aurissa Martens led the Vikings with nine kills. Kaitlyn Heuring added five kills for VCSU. The Vikings will bounce back quickly with a match Saturday in Mayville against Dakota Wesleyan. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
Briar Cliff was led by 13 kills from Monica Boeding and nine kills by Jenni Semprini.
