MADISON, S.D. – The eighth edition of the North Star Athletic Association Football weekly honors were announced Monday. Derek Elliott of Valley City State (N.D.) was named Offensive Player of the Week, Josh Licht of Dakota State (S.D.) was named Defensive Player of the Week and Dylan Torgerson of Mayville State (N.D.) was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

NSAA Football Offensive Player of the Week
Derek Elliott – Valley City State (N.D.) – 6'1" – 210 lbs, Senior – running back – Valley City, N.D. – Elliott racked up 243 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in Valley City State's 42-21 home loss to NCAA Division III Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.). He rushed 30 times for 141 yards with a touchdown – his seventh straight 100-yard rushing game this season. Elliott added six receptions for 61 yards with a touchdown. He has now scored at least a touchdown in all seven games this season. He leads the NAIA in all-purpose yards, rushing yards, and total touchdowns.

NSAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
Josh Licht – Dakota State (S.D.) – 6'2" – 260 lbs., Senior – defensive end – Estelline, S.D. – Licht played his final collegiate career home football game by recording a career high 3.5 quarterback sacks for loss of 19 yards in 37-31 non-conference loss to Briar Cliff (Iowa). He was just 0.5 quarterback sack shy of tying DSU school record for most quarterback sacks in a single game. Licht also tallied 11 tackles in the game, including 4.5 tackles-for-loss of 22 yards.

NSAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Dylan Torgerson – Mayville State (N.D.) – 5'10" – 180 lbs., Freshman – kicker – Kalispell, Mont. – Torgerson converted all three PAT kicks and made two field goals (21, 28) to guide Mayville State (N.D.) in a 35-0 shutout victory over Trinity Bible (N.D.). He had five punts for 183 yards, including his longest punt of 41 yards. Torgerson recorded six kick-offs for a total of 310 yards, averaging 51.7 yards per kickoffs.

Recap from Saturday's Games
Mayville State was the lone North Star Athletic Association that came out with a victory on Oct. 19. The Comets won their third straight game by shutting down the Lions of Trinity Bible by the score of 35-0.

Dakota State fell short in their final home regular-season game to Briar Cliff. Knotted 24-24 heading in the fourth quarter, the Trojans could not overcome Chargers' scoring spurt where BC scored 13 straight points in the span of one minute and 19 seconds. DSU mounted a rally back but came up short by the score of 37-31.

Valley City State suffered their second straight loss. The Vikings dropped a 42-21 home game to NCAA Division II Gustavus Adophus, despite Elliot's 243 all-purpose total yards.

Presentation (S.D.) won an exhibition game versus Cole College (Colo.). The Saints kicked off the game by scoring 21 straight points and never trailed in the game, winning by the score of 56-8.

Jamestown (N.D.) was idle last week.

Looking Ahead
Four NSAA members will return back to conference play on Saturday. Jamestown will travel to Valley City State and Mayville State will visit Presentation. Both kick-offs are scheduled for 1 p.m.

Dakota State heads to Rapid City, S.D. to take on former Dakota Athletic Conference foe South Dakota Mines. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (Central Time)/1 p.m. (Mountain Time).
