Jessica Shuler is the Online Music Coordinator at Valley City State University. Her primary responsibility since 2017 is advising and onboarding all online music students.  In her time at VSCU, she has been a teaching assistant and instructor in online music courses.  Her accolades at the university begin with pioneering their online music program as its first graduate in 2012.  She has also taught private clarinet, piano, and beginner voice lessons since 2004.  

Jessica earned a Bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Clemson University in 2004, a Bachelor’s degree in music from Valley City State University, in 2012, and a Master’s in Clarinet Performance from Northwestern State University in 2014.  

Jessica is an active performer in her community. She plays clarinet, sings, and plays piano. In 2004 she won a concert competition on clarinet in South Carolina and was able to perform with the Clemson University Symphony Orchestra. As a clarinetist, she has also played with the Papillion Band, in Nebraska; Carolina Pops Symphony (clarinet and piano) in South Carolina;  Texarkana Symphony in Arkansas, Marshall Symphony in Texas, South Arkansas Symphony in Arkansas, Shreveport Symphony in Louisiana, Centenary College Wind Ensemble in Louisiana, and Red River Wind Orchestra in Louisiana. As a vocalist, she has performed with the Greenville Chorale, Greenville Chorale Chamber Ensemble, Greenville Light Opera Works, all in South Carolina, and the Omaha Symphony Chorale in Nebraska. She is also an active member of her church choir and worship team.
