Explore our programs

Study wild wolves in Yellowstone, sample waters in local rivers and lakes, or conduct research on fruit flies as part of your science education at VCSU. We have dedicated, experienced faculty who involve students in field work and research, providing undergraduates with the type of hands-on experience typically found in graduate programs. Classes are held in our Rhoades Science Center with safe and modern labs, a greenhouse, and North Dakota’s only planetarium. Specialized internship opportunities are available to help you jump start your career or prepare you for graduate school.

Our Science department offers numerous field work opportunities for undergraduate students. You'll be using methods, theories, and ideas covered in your courses to make your own discoveries and come to your own conclusions.

Test your own theories.

Our students have the unique opportunity to present their own undergraduate research to the North Dakota legislature in a unique showcase. Our students represent VCSU with presentations that win awards and showcase our talent to our leaders.

Visit new places.

Each fall select students are able to take a trip to Yellowstone National Park to study the wolf population, take in the breathtaking sights, and experience the unique ecosystem. Take part in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with your classmates!
