Jerrold Heide is an assistant professor of music at Valley City State University, where he serves as Director of Concert and Athletic Bands, specializes in music education and instrumental methods courses, and advises the VCSU NAfME chapter. Prior to this appointment, he served eleven years of public-school teaching in Alliance and Osmond, Neb. and Buffalo, S.D. at the K-12 level. Marching bands under his direction have performed in Chicago, Ill. and Washington D.C., and ensembles under his direction were consistently awarded superior ratings at contests and regional marching competitions.

Jerrold holds a Master of Music in Education degree from the University of South Dakota and a Bachelor of Science in K-12 Instrumental Music Education from Dickinson State University (N.D.). His research focuses on the development of resources to support the growth and development of instrumental music programs in extremely rural areas as well as serving an active role as a clinician and adjudicator throughout the Northern Plains region. Jerrold is a member of the North Dakota Music Educators’ Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the Alpha Gamma chapter of the Phi Beta Mu international band fraternity.

His personal interests include motorcycles and spending time in the great outdoors, and he currently resides in Valley City, N.D. with his wife Erin, daughters Della and Claire, and son Landon.
