Technology Leaders
The Don Mugan CTE Leadership Center serves the needs of current and future career and technical educators by providing numerous online paths to undergraduate and graduate degrees, along with endorsements and certificates in CTE-related areas. We are committed to helping individuals with technical skills and knowledge become teachers of the next generation of workers.
The Mugan Center may also help convert prior life experience into university credits at a much lower tuition cost.
Choose the pathway that's right for you
- This certificate prepares student with content, activities, and methods of teaching in STEM-based, pre-engineering and emerging technologies in the K – 12 classroom. Certificates available are:
- Elementary STEM (K-8)
- Secondary STEM (5-12)
- You typically must hold a current teaching degree to add a certificate to an existing degree or license. States vary on how credentialing certificates are recognized, so VCSU assists by printing the certificate completed on your official transcript for verification of completion. Check with your district or state licensing agency for acceptance of a certificate.
- Coursework includes STEM content with age-appropriate content to support hands-on, applied learning through real world activities.
- Fully online program designed for initial teaching licensure – B.S. Ed. in Technology Education with a major or minor.
- Students will bring relevant experiences to the Technology and Engineering Education (TEE) program using Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities.
- Perfect for existing educators wishing to add a TEE major, TEE minor or elementary or secondary certificates in STEM Education.
- Online program ensures no physical residency requirement – we will ship the necessary materials directly to you for each course, enabling you to study wherever is easiest for you.
- Certificates in Elementary STEM are for grades K – 8, and Secondary STEM certificates are for grades 5 – 12.
- TEE academic agreements are in place at:
- College of DuPage (Ill.)
- Moraine Valley Community College (Ill.)
- Minnesota State Community and Technical College (Minn.)
This degree provides pedagogy-based history, curriculum development, and assessment for individuals in Trades, Industry and Allied Health fields.
- Completely online program.
- Completion allows for advancement in teaching salary lanes.
- Designed for current teachers who require CTE certification and methodology.
- A career option for second career individuals.
- Completely online degree with no physical residency requirement.
- Designed for new teachers or those seeking a second career.
- Leads to initial licensure to teach Business Education subjects in middle school or high school.
Our M. Ed. in Technology Education is based in engineering concepts, emphasizing design, critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities. There are three M.S. options within this concentration:
- Secondary STEM Education
- This option allows individuals to add Technology Education as a new or additional teaching field.
- Elementary STEM Education
- This option provides curriculum appropriate for elementary education professionals to enhance teaching and learning in their classrooms using STEM methods and application of math and science in addition to technology and engineering.
- Career and Technical Education
- This option provides an advanced degree option for all Career and Technical Education professionals.
- Designed for North Dakota teachers holding an alternative teaching license or initial CTE license.
- You must be under contract to teach in a North Dakota school for the current school year.
- Successful completion of requirements will lead to an initial full teaching license or full CTE license.
