“Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) works on analyzing a variety of biological specimens. They are responsible for performing scientific testing on samples and reporting results to physicians. MLS that it is a program that requires time and effort. It is also a program that will focus on many subjects like Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry, etc. In the end, it is a challenging but rewarding profession with many job opportunities available.”

  • Hands-on experience before graduation
    Students in the MLS program spend their final two semesters working at an actual clinical lab in a healthcare facility. This ensures graduates have the skills to manage their own clinical lab confidently. Students can choose the location for their final semesters including staying in Valley City or moving to a community of their choice.

  • Medical Lab Scientists are healthcare detectives
    Medical laboratory science professionals generate accurate laboratory data that are needed to aid in detecting cancer, heart attacks, diabetes, infectious mononucleosis, and identification of bacteria or viruses that cause infections, as well as in detecting drugs of abuse. In addition, we monitor testing quality and consult with other members of the healthcare team.
