Whitney Art Shown Internationally

Whitney Art Shown Internationally
Three of Whitney's recent mezzotints spent the summer in Ekaterinberg, Russia as part of the Invitational International Mezzotint Festival.

Through various mezzotint and print exchanges, other works have been exhibited in Holland, Australia, Russia, New Zealand, Canada (Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia), Spain, Serbia, Netherlands, Britain, France, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, and throughout the United States.

Professor Whitney is also curating and touring the International Mezzotint Society Exchange Exhibition. The exhibition will include mezzotints from 24 artists from Australia, Canada, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Serbia, New Zealand, and the United States. The Exhibition will open its tour in the VCSU Art Gallery in January and will go on to other galleries in the Midwest.

Senior Art Exhibit Opens

Senior Art Exhibit Opens
The Valley City State University Art Department is pleased to announce the opening of Jacob Leno's Senior Exhibition of ceramic work. Jacob is an Art major from Bismarck, ND and has spent the last three years perfecting his skill at the potter's wheel.

The Exhibition consists of 22 beautiful teapots and is installed in the VCSU Art Gallery on third floor of McCarthy Hall. An artist's reception and talk is scheduled in the Gallery on Saturday, October 29, at 5:30 pm. Mr. Leno's Peer Presentation Lecture will take place this evening, October 24 at 7:00 pm in McCarthy 356.

"I take satisfaction in using my hands to mold clay into ware that is beautiful, strong in form, and suitable for its purpose," Says Jacob. "My most recent work has been teapots. I chose this form because of its challenges and for a chance to hone my skill and eye for form."
